J.S. Sullivan Development’s new residential building on 1501 15th Street is nearing completion based on a recent walking tour of the site. Peering through the thin veil of construction wrap, the glass exterior windows and ivory colored facade have been installed on floors two through five. Interior work is ongoing on the first floor’s nearly 10,000 sq. feet of retail space. Bird’s eye views of the 40 unit building are reminiscent of a puzzle piece with deep recessed and protruding sections. Based on finished renderings, the office building inspired exterior facade might put-off some neighbors, however, compared to the new look-alike residences sprouting up in The Mission, the Stanley Saitowitz and Natoma Architects ‘s design is a welcome change.
