After 18 months of construction, owners Nick Podell Company and Grosvenor are finishing a high-end condominium complex at 1645 Pacific Avenue. The 65 foot 6 story building will include 39 residential units, 3,200 sq. feet of ground retail, and a generous 41 spaces of subterranean parking. Latest renderings from BAR Architects show a richly appointed building borrowing elements from the Modern, Art Deco, and Beaux-Arts design styles. Exterior highlights include plant and human figure ornaments, wrought iron railings, and dark wood paneling. Compared to many generic styled residential buildings under development, 1645 Pacific proves a building’s design can have some ambition yet still elegantly blend into surrounding buildings. A recent area tour showed plant pot ornaments and brickwork peeking from behind the building’s scaffolding and protective veil. Judging by current progress, builder Cahill Contractors should be able to wrap up building development within the next couple of months.
