A permit was issued back in 2006 to build an 8 story 35 unit apartment complex on the corner of Van Ness and Washington Streets. Fast forward 8 years through the “Great Recession” and to the current real estate construction boom (or bubble?). Evidence that builder JS Sullivan is kick-starting the 1868 Van Ness project can be seen by new onsite excavations and shoring system installations. Project information including updated architect renderings proves elusive as no information can be found on JS Sullivan’s website and Leavitt Architecture’s website is under construction. This project neighboring the newly opened Marlow at 1800 Van Ness looks to be at least 18 months from completion.
