[maxgallery name=”222-second-street-august-2014-progress”]Having erected roughly 22 steel framed floors, builder Turner Construction is nearing floor completion for the 26 story 222 Second Street building. A recent site tour showed crews installing a series of overlapping glass panels that will make up the building’s external facade. Penned by contributing architects Thomas Phifer, Heller Manus and Gensler, the building’s design incorporates clean squared edges and a smoked glass colored facade with angled panels. When completed, the tower will reach a height of 370 feet (including architectural penthouse and screen) and include 452,418 sq. feet of office space, 2,209 sq. feet of ground retail, and two levels of subterranean parking. Owner Tishman Speyer expects project completion by early 2016.
