San Francisco celebrated Earth Day a little early this year with the 4th annual Earth Day Festival at the U.N. Plaza. The event took place on Saturday April 19th and featured a diverse set of vendors, speakers and live music. Attendees participated in paintings, danced, and browsed the diverse array of eco friendly exhibitors and promoters. Food trucks offered organic and vegan options and were noticeably of higher quality than what can be found at similar street festivals. Earth Day, celebrated in the United States on April 22nd, was founded at a 1969 UNESCO peace conference in San Francisco by John McConnell.
