From sunrise Easter service at Mt. Davidson to the 420 observances at Golden Gate Park, a diverse set of celebrations descended upon the city on Sunday, April 20th. Below is a photo essay of some of the more notable events.
Easter Sunrise Service At Mount Davidson
[maxgallery id=”4796″]Dedicated church goers awoke early Easter Sunday to hike through the mist to Mount Davidson’s summit. A 103 foot tall concrete cross and church service greeted the devoted morning attendees. Music and ministry celebrated the Christian’s Resurrection of Jesus Christ alongside the rising morning sun.
[maxgallery id=”4802″]Stoners and buzz seekers descended upon Hippie Hill for the annual observance of 420. Attendees danced to live music, browsed the vendors’ offerings, and partook in all things cannabis. Compared to last year, this celebration was notably larger and more organized. There was a greater number of personnel picking up trash and “merchants” offering a greater selection of cannabis and related “accessories”.
[maxgallery id=”4812″]A large diverse crowd greeted this year’s Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Easter Sunday observance. The celebration included an entertaining “Hunky Jesus” contest where challengers competed for the coveted Hunky Jesus title. The celebration was held at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park.
